Ayurveda Intro/History

Ayurveda is a clinically time tested comprehensive system of healthcare, an ancient science and the precursor for most systems of medicine and surgery in the world. It fulfills a need, has scientific relevance, has been heavily researched and contributes significantly to the varied medical and lifestyle needs of modern day. Latest advancements in diagnostic methods and allied medical fields can seamlessly be interpreted and integrated with Ayurveda practices. Sanjeeva Ayurveda Medical Spa is a need based doctor centric institution bringing genuine Ayurveda to many conditions that require medical attention.

Born of the Vedas, the ancient Sanskrit texts of India, Ayurveda is beyond the purview of recorded human history. The evidence of its vibrant existence and practice alongside the Puranas and Ithasas like the Ramayana and Mahabharata predate The Buddha by several thousand years.

Pioneering Surgery, Acharya Sushruta had his medical compendium available before 1000 BC. Acharya Charaka was an extraordinary physician and his medical compendium was an edited version of the Agnivesha Tantra that pre-dated Sushruta.

Authentic practitioners of the Vedic sciences understand that Vedic thought and knowledge does not follow the evolutionary sequence that many Western scholars propound, rather, it was given by the divine to the human race in its entirety eons ago.

Even modern science recognizes that Ayurveda and its recorded history is at least 3 thousand years old! It was taught in the Universities of Nalanda and Takshashila (the first great universities in recorded history with thousands of students and teachers) which flourished in India as early as 500 BCE. Rishi-scientists taught pupils from India and abroad. With customized materia medica, geographical conditions, cultures, demographics etc from these pockets of civilization, the principles and practice of Ayurveda assumed a multitude of expressions. An unbroken tradition continues to this day.
